Queering Reproductive Access Study

Reproductive technologies and access for racialized LGBTQ2S+ communities

We’re aiming to better understand the experiences of racialized LGBTQ2SIA+ community members with assisted reproductive technologies* in Ontario, Canada.

*Assisted reproductive technologies include, but are not limited to in vitro fertilization (IVF), insemination (IUI), and surrogacy.

Up to 25% of fertility clinic users identify as LGBTQ2SIA+ in urban areas of Canada

Yet, few research studies have been conducted to address these experiences. To date, no research has investigated racialized LGBTQ2SIA+ people’s experiences accessing or trying to access these important services.

This project will address an important research gap and potentially inform policy and practice recommendations.

We want to learn more about racialized LGBTQ2SIA+ community members experiences of choosing to access or choosing not to access assisted reproductive technologies.

We want to understand how our communities form families. Racialized LGBTQ2SIA+ representation in health research and policy is vital.
